Are we a good fit for each other? Although I wish I could work with every person that seeks out training, it’s important that I find the right dedicated clients that are willing to put in 100% into the training and lifestyle changes that need to take place for you and your dog to be successful and reach your goals. It’s just as important for me to find the right client as it is for you to find the right trainer!
What training tools do you use? It depends on the dogs needs and training program they're in. But it can range from food/treats, toys, slip leash, Herm Sprenger prong collar, Mini Educator E-Collar, and a long line.
What is a Herm Sprenger prong collar? The prong collar is the main tool I use for most dogs that come in for training. Most people refer to it as a "pinch collar," but it didn't get that name because it pinches the dog. It got that name because to properly take the collar on and off, you have to pinch one of the prongs on the collar for it to be taken apart. The design of the prong collar is made for all of the pressure that is applied to be evenly distributed around your dogs neck vs. a regular flat collar that puts all of the pressure on the front of the dogs throat. If you have a dog that is a massive puller, using a regular flat collar can possibly cause trachea damage overtime, whereas the prong collar is much safer since its design to evenly distribute pressure makes it highly unlikely for that to happen. In my opinion, when used properly and the dog has been throughly taught what the pressure means and how the turn it off, it's the most humane and effective way to communicate with your dog. Whether you simply need to give your dog direction and guidance, or clearly communicate "no" in a way they understand.
What is an E-Collar? It looks similar to a shock collar, HOWEVER, the technology behind it and they way we use it is much different! It doesn't shock or zap your dog, it simply applies blunt stimulation similar to a TENS unit that medical professionals use in muscle therapy. The E-Collar has 0-100 levels. For each individual dog, we find their basic perception level (which is so low most people can't even feel it & the sensation feels like a little tap under the skin) and start to layer it over the basic foundational training that they have learned the first few days of training. By having a large variety of levels, we are able to find and train on the lowest level that your dog can perceive, as well as being able to adjust to the perfect level in every environment. Once the dog is conditioned and trained with the E-Collar, its a way for owners to be able to wirelessly communicate with their dogs on and off leash. It allows you to be able to simply "tap" them on the shoulder to give reminders or reinforce commands at a distance. Whether your dog is at home, in the yard, off leash on a hike or in a field, on a walk or any other circumstance, it gives your dog the ability to have more freedom and fun while giving you the peace of mind of having off leash control. Its also a great tool for correcting nuisance behaviors like barking, counter surfing, jumping, mouthing, etc.
Where will my dog stay? Your dog will stay with me in my home, and will be crated at night and during the day in-between training sessions, potty breaks and walks.
How many dogs do you have a one time? To ensure your dog gets the best care, quality time and training, I keep my numbers small. I have no more than 3-4 dogs here at a time.
Do you offer a guarantee, or what happens if I don't see results? It would be unethical for me to offer a 100% guarantee simply due to the fact that there are so many factors that take place when training and maintaining what the dog has learned back at home. What I can offer is lifetime support that comes with all of my training programs. This means that if you have any questions, concerns, or problems that pop up after training I’ll be there to help you work through them.
How will I get updates of my dog during training? Updates are posted daily of client dogs currently here for training on our social media. They can also be sent to you directly via email/text if preferred instead. To check out their progress, the different training tools and methods used, head over to our Facebook or Instagram page.
